discrete amplitude steps. The Amplitude parameter defines how

many of these steps is use for generating the sine. The waveform

amplitude is given in units of points. The waveform amplitude fields

let you specify the maximum and minimum peak separately. The ex-

ample shows sine waveform with maximum peak-to-peak values.

Smaller values generate an attenuated sine.

Start Phase

– The start phase parameter defines the angle at which

the sine starts. The example shows a 90° start phase.

Power

– The example shows sine a cubed. Sine to the power of 1

generates a perfect sine. The power range is from 1 to 9.

System Menu

The System menu lets you do two things: delete all segments and

download the active waveform. Both of these functions are also

available as icons on the toolbar.

The WaveCAD

Toolbar

The WaveCAD toolbar contains icons for editing the waveform graph,

icons for saving and loading waveforms, fields for selecting the active

segment, adjusting segment length, and more. The Toolbar is shown

in Figure 3-16 and the individual icons are described in the following.

This icon represents the Open New Waveform file function. When

you click on this icon, the current waveform is removed from the

waveform area and a DC line is displayed.

This icon represents the Open Waveform file function. When you

click on this icon, the Open Waveform dialog box opens and you can

select a waveform file to display on the waveform graph.

This icon saves the file you currently have on your waveform screen.

The file will be saves in *.wav format which is unique to the wave

composer.

The Save As… icon lets you save your waveform as a file. The file

will be saves in the *.wav format which is unique to the wave com-

poser. It can alternatively be saved as a *.asc file in ASCII format.

Use this icon to print the waveform graph with your default printer.

The standard printer dialog box appears and lets you select printer

setup before printing the waveform graph.

Click on this icon to enable Autoline mode. Exit Autoline mode by
